Call for Artists

CALL-FOR-ARTISTS

Get into the holiday spirit, come on down and bid on holiday/winter art. The Apex Arts Council announces:

Holiday and Winter Art Show
Sunday, 25 November 2012, through Sunday, 9 December 2012

The Apex Arts Council will hold their annual showing and silent auction of Winter and Holiday Art paintings, photography, and other hanging art in the Apex Promenade at 219 North Salem Street in historic downtown Apex from Sunday, 25 November 2012, through Sunday, 9 December 2012.  All artwork must depict scenes of the holidays or winter, but the subject matter can range to anything (within reason given the venue) created by the artist's imagination.  All artwork on display will be tagged with the name of the work, the medium used, the name of the artist, and a reserve amount (minimum bid) for the silent auction.  Anyone interested in purchasing any particular work may submit their bid on the form showing this information on the tag.  The Apex Arts Council will handle all auction sales and delivery, and charge the artist a fee of twenty-five percent (25%) of the purchase price for any works sold this way.

Artists may bring their submissions to the Common Grounds Coffee House (also at 219 North Salem Street in historic downtown Apex) between 8:00am and 11:00am on Wednesday, 21 November, or Friday, 23 November.  Following the close of the show, any unsold works may be picked up at the same location on Monday, December 10th.

Drop-off of art: November 21 or November 23 — 8:00-11:00 a.m.
Silent Auction: November 25 - December 9

A Little Jazz

The feeling of fall is settling on Apex, mostly noted by the rain and cooler temperatures at night. I was ecstatic to open the windows the other night and fall asleep to the sound of the rain. I may be lulled to sleep by the sound of rain, but the upcoming Apex Jazz Festival is sure to get your fingers snapping to the myriad of bands slated to play during the nine hour event in downtown Apex, NC. Tickets are reasonably priced at $20 for the headliner plus all venues or $10 for all the venues (no headliner).

Apex Jazz Festival website excerpt:
Tickets for the outdoor stage and all of the pub venues are $10.  Tickets for the headliner performance at the Halle Cultural Arts center are $20 and include access to everything else.  Admission into the beer garden is limited to those 21 years of age and older.

The festival committee is still taking volunteers for a number of posts.  Those interested in volunteering at the 2nd Annual Apex Jazz Festival, please contact the volunteer coordinator, Stephanie Carola, at stephanie.carola1@yahoo.com.
